A look into the key traits and standout pieces in the wardrobe of Louis Vuitton's muse
Alicia Vikander's style is underrated. She has a classic, elegant sense of style and always wears pieces that are well suited to her slender figure. Monochrome, bandeau and high-neck dresses, cut-outs, ruffles and frills, blush pink, leather, embroidery, detailed prints and #metallic materials make repeat appearances in her wardrobe. Whilst she regularly opts for reliable black or white pieces, fun pops of colour and striking metallic gowns also feature amongst her looks.
With the Swedish actress having such a sophisticated sense of style, it's hardly surprising that she has a strong relationship with Louis Vuitton. She has been an ambassador for the brand since 2015 and has repeatedly worn custom Louis Vuitton gowns to red carpet events. Throughout Vikander's collaboration with Vuitton, her relationship with the women's creative director of the brand, Nicolas Ghesquière, has evolved and strengthened from a purely creative partnership to a friendship. She clearly has a great amount of respect for the designer and his vision. Interestingly, she has referred to the fact that Ghesquière honours past fashions, “The thing with Nicolas is that his own style is very much looking back and honouring classic fashions or styles, honouring those materials and craftsmanship and bringing it out and mixing it up to become something almost ahead of its time,” (wwd.com, 2022) Ghesquière's appreciation of classic style and glamour teamed with Vikander's inherent sophistication make for a match made in heaven.
In terms of professional styling, Vikander has been working with, the former model turned editorial stylist, Victoria Sekrier since around 2015. When defining the star's general style, Sekrier has described it as "very European, which is timeless, effortless and understated". (nytimes.com, 2015) Sekrier has also pointed out a bohemian facet of Vikander's style that manifests in her wardrobe choices more significantly in the warmer months.
